Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP)
SUPPORTING YOU DURING YOUR CLINICAL PLACEMENTS
At IHNA, we recognise the financial challenges that can arise during mandatory clinical placements. To assist our students, the Australian Government has introduced the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP), providing financial support during these essential training periods.(education.gov.au)
WHAT IS THE COMMONWEALTH PRAC PAYMENT
Starting from 1 July 2025, eligible students enrolled in the Diploma of Nursing program at IHNA can receive $331.65 per week during their mandatory clinical placements. This amount is benchmarked to the single Austudy rate and aims to alleviate the financial pressures associated with unpaid placements. (education.gov.au)
To qualify for the CPP, students must:
-
Be a domestic student enrolled in IHNA’s Diploma of Nursing program.
-
Undertake mandatory clinical placements as part of the course requirements.
-
Meet one of the following financial criteria:
-
Receive a Commonwealth income support payment (e.g., ABSTUDY, Austudy, Youth Allowance, or DVA Education Allowance).
-
Demonstrate a need to work by having worked more than 15 hours per week on average in the four weeks prior to applying for the CPP or before commencing the placement, with an income not exceeding $1,500 per week (pre-tax).
Students facing exceptional circumstances that prevent them from meeting the standard eligibility criteria may still be considered for the CPP. Such cases will be assessed individually, and appropriate documentation (e.g., medical certificates or individual education plans) will be required. (education.gov.au)
