Management is the application, organisation and coordination of the activities of an enterprise in accordance with certain policies, procedures and practices. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. This involves the use of communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.
This course aims to develop knowledge of management skills by explaining and drawing on modern practices and methods to achieve business objectives. It engenders a holistic approach to the role of the management discipline within industry, business and society, and promotes the ability to identify factors that impact most on management success.

Mode of Delivery
Online Delivery
The total course duration is 52 weeks including holidays and breaks. The amount of training will be 964 hours of delivery, including theory delivery, simulation-based training and assessment. IHNA expects students to undertake 20 hours of self-paced learning per unit for this course. So, volume of training will be 1236 hours for this course. Extensions are available to students who have been progressing but cannot complete within the set duration. Students should apply formally, in writing, to the course coordinator for an extension.
Entry Requirements
There are no pre-requisites or any other training package entry requirements for this course. IHNA has in place admission criteria for courses in its scope as required by its ‘Application and Enrolment Procedure for VET Courses’ to ensure that candidates meet industry requirements.
IHNA Admission requirements
- 16 years of age and above at the time of commencement of the course.
- Successful completion of an Australian Year 11 qualification or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the language, literary and numeracy (LLN) test and demonstration of competence level as exit level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
- Mature age students (22+) will also be considered without the minimum education requirements. Each case will be reviewed individually to ascertain the capacity of the student to meet course requirements.
*Students are required to meet the Department of Home Affairs English language requirements for student visa applications, which may differ from the above course entry requirements.
Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND)
All IHNA students must complete the Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) assessment to ensure that students meet the necessary requirements for successfully undertaking the course. IHNA administers the LLND test to evaluate each student’s suitability.
- Digital literacy
- Should possess basic computer skills covering the most common usages of a computer, including managing computer files, word processing, using spreadsheets and databases; creating presentations; finding information and communicating using computers; and being aware of social and ethical implications of Internet use.
- Students should be in possession of their own laptops to facilitate the training and assessment.
How is the Course Assessed?
The course is assessed using the following 3 methods.
- Questions
- Projects
- Simulations
The questions or knowledge-based assessments are made up of a series of relevant short to medium length questions and multiple-choice options for learners to respond.
The projects assessments require learners to respond to relevant scenarios, case studies and tasks. These can include, writing short or medium length reports or proposals. Analysing data and preparing reports. Templates are provided to assist learners to write policies and produces. Composing appropriate business style emails, preparing notes for meetings, presentations and reflecting on the learning.
The simulation assessments are supervised, in-class or online (real time) simulated activities consisting of various methods. They may include the following: Group and individual projects, role plays, individual and group activities including presentations.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) & Credit Transfer (CT)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
With RPL we assess your competency based on formal, non-formal, informal learning or direct work experience based on the required skills of the course.
Credit Transfer(CT)
We use CT where you’ve completed units of study at another TAFE College or Registered Training Organisation that meet the requirements of another course. We grant credit according to the Certification, Issuing, and Recognition of Qualifications and Statements of Attainment. Assessing a CT is free.
If you’re eligible for RPL or CT you may be able to complete the course in a shorter duration with reduction to total course fees. Check your eligibility with us.
