Job Ready Training just got more Affordable. Be a part of IHNA’s 50% over 50 initiative.
Are you over 50 and thinking of taking up further studies? More than 10% of Australians aged 15 to 64 are enrolled in tertiary education. When you understand that only 2% of people had a qualification in the early 1970s, it’s obvious how important post-secondary learning is for a promising career. Is it worthwhile to devote time and resources to your studies to advance your career?
As a 45-year-old employee, you are suddenly faced with the possibility of working for another two decades. So, how can you make sure you’re as employable as possible in a market that’s never been more competitive?
Education is the answer.
With IHNA’s 50 over 50 initiative you can now study any course with us at 50% off on a full fee course. We can help you stay relevant in today’s competitive world.
Education Vs Experience- Why not both?
Retirement isn’t the final destination. More than a quarter of people who retire between the ages of 45 and 59 will return to work in some form, with many doing so full-time. So, what are the advantages of an experienced worker over a younger co-worker?
Employers may make a difficult decision after assessing their choices. Do they, for example, place a higher weight on experience than recent qualifications? The answer varies by industry, but you can be sure that any company will value a candidate who possesses both attributes. Employees with new expertise and credentials have fresh industry knowledge as well as experience, or “corporate memory,” of the best practices. Studying for qualifications to improve your experience and abilities is an excellent way to ensure that your job is future-proof.
Covid’s impact on Australian Economies
As the coronavirus pandemic, lockdown, and subsequent economic slump begin to hit hard, more businesses appear to be reporting employment cuts every week. Workers have been affected in a variety of sectors. Here are some of the work cuts that have been reported so far.
- Airlines and Travel
- Retail
- Finance
- Media
- Art
- Sports
- Mining
- Manufacturing
On the other hand, the healthcare and social-assistance sector employs the most people in Australia. This sector employed over 1.7 million workers in 2020, and it is expected to grow to more than 1.9 million by 2024.
Around a third of the Health Care and Social Assistance population is employed in occupations relevant to the HLT – Health Training Package. The jobs with the highest percentage of workers are aged and disabled carers and nursing support and personal care workers. Both are expected to rise significantly by 2024, with Aged and Disabled Caregivers increasing by more than 25%.
While all the other sectors were struggle and cutting their employers work healthcare was the only sector that was looking for more people to join in and still requires more people to come and join the industry.

Changing gears and swapping careers
Studying is frequently associated with the young, but there are several compelling reasons to enrol in a course later in life. While most of us are motivated to learn as a means of advancing our careers, the benefits of continuing to learn in your 50s and 60s go far beyond professional success or academic excellence.
A job switch is arduous at any age, but it is incredibly challenging after you reach 50. This is especially true if you already have a good career. Switching jobs may be simpler than you think, IHNA has got your back!
“Let Age not be the factor to hinder our growth”
